The Ceremony will be followed by a welcome cocktail reception hosted by the City of Tours.

Evening at the Museum

An evening at the Fine Arts museum in Tours.

We welcome you to enjoy the visit of the Musée des Beaux Arts and to listen to old French songs from middle age interpreted by the famous group “Diabolus in musica” (the Devil in Music!). Set in a formal French garden near the Cathedral, the former Archbishop Palace in Tours is home of the museum des Beaux Arts, created in 1801. It hosts a large collection from Italian primitives, French 18th century paintings and furnitures, to contemporary art. Collections (furniture, paintings and sculptures) were assembled during the French revolution from Abbeys and Chateaux built at the 16th century. You will walk around the numerous rooms of this pretty building listening to a wonderful mixture of alto, baryton, tenor and soprano voices interpreting medieval music, from Gregorian chant to great polyphonies of the 15th century. An unforgettable events and taste of French culture! In addition, we will give you the opportunity, in the yard under the two century old cedar of Lebanon, to test local wines and cheeses from the Loire valley….

Built in the 9th century, the “Grange de Meslay” is an outstanding example of Middle Ages’ architecture. It was renovated in the 20th century and welcomes since then various cultural and social events. The great pianist Sviatoslav Richter was impressed by the architecture and acoustics of the “Grange de Meslay” and he made it the venue of music festivals in the 1960s.
Transportation by bus to the “Grange de Meslay” is organized for Conference participants.
